EPA Renovator Training Initial Course - RRP (8-Hour)

Lead Safety for Remodeling, Repair, And Painting

EPA developed this 8-hour training course to instruct renovators, painters, and remodelers how to work safely in homes with lead-based paint. This EPA approved course is designed for training contractors who work in target housing or child occupied facilities. Common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which can be harmful to adults and children. To protect against this risk, effective April 22, 2010 EPA requires this certification for all contractors who perform renovation, remodeling, painting, or maintenance in target housing to protect the families that live in these homes as well as the workers and their families. EPA Renovator Refresher Training Course - RRP-R (4-Hour)

Lead Safety for Remodeling, Repair, And Painting

EPA developed this 4-hour refresher training course so that renovators can maintain their certification. EPA now allows refresher training to be done without a hands-on component, which means it can be completed entirely online. Taking a renovator refresher course that does not include hands-on training will result in a 3-year renovator certification. Taking a refresher training course that includes hands-on training (regardless of whether the rest of the course is taken online or in a classroom) results in a 5-year renovator certification. Individuals who take the renovator refresher without hands-on training must, for their next refresher course, take a refresher course that includes hands-on training to maintain renovator certification.. EPA extended the training expiration date for many individual certified renovators. To determine when a renovator's training expires refer to this table. Expiration dates are based on when the previous course was taken. Renovators must take the refresher training before their training expiration in order to have valid certification. Sign up
